Overview

DV19 is an innovative, ergonomic vaccine gun designed specifically for the poultry industry. In large-scale poultry farms, chickens require daily vaccinations, with over 1 lakh chickens vaccinated per day using a single gun. Recognizing the physical strain and precision required in this high-volume process, we developed DV19 to enhance both efficiency and accuracy. This groundbreaking device stabilizes the chicken’s neck during vaccination, significantly reducing the risk of improper vaccine administration, which can lead to high mortality rates.

40%

Increased
Efficiency

40% increase in vaccination speed, enabling workers to
vaccinate more chickens in less time.

1. Ergonomic Fatigue – Traditional vaccine guns caused significant strain on the index finger, leading to worker fatigue and reduced efficiency.

2. Precision Under Pressure – Maintaining vaccine accuracy during high-speed operations was challenging, especially when vaccinating over 1 lakh chickens daily.

3. Chicken Stability – Ensuring the chicken remained stable to avoid misadministration of the vaccine.

4. Durability – The gun needed to withstand continuous daily use in tough farm environments without mechanical failure.

5. Ease of Use – Simplifying the operation for workers with varying skill levels to ensure consistent results.

Our design process began with extensive field research at poultry farms to observe the vaccination process firsthand. We identified that the repetitive strain on the index finger from traditional vaccine guns was a major pain point. To address this, we redesigned the trigger mechanism to utilize the opposable thumb, reducing fatigue and increasing efficiency. Prototypes were tested rigorously in real farm conditions, leading to continuous refinements based on user feedback from vaccination workers and farm managers.

1. Ergonomic Design – A revolutionary grip that leverages the opposable thumb instead of the index finger, minimizing worker fatigue during repetitive use.

2. Neck Stabilization Mechanism – Built-in support to hold the chicken’s neck securely, ensuring precise vaccine delivery.

3. High-Durability Build – Designed with robust materials to withstand intensive daily use in harsh poultry farm environments.

4. Optimized for Speed – Lightweight and easy to handle, allowing workers to vaccinate up to 1 lakh chickens per day efficiently.

5. User-Centric Iterations – Continuous testing and improvements based on real-world feedback from poultry farms.

DV19 has transformed the poultry vaccination process by enhancing efficiency, reducing worker fatigue, and improving vaccine accuracy, ultimately supporting healthier livestock and more sustainable poultry farming practices.
